Collecting Autographs – Political Signatures

Hi everybody!  I hope you are all having a great election day!!!  On a day that is likely to shape the future of our country I thought that it would be appropriate to share with you some ideas about collecting political autographs.  Regardless of whether you are a Conservative or Liberal this field can be very rewarding.

I have been very successful in the past obtaining signatures of various politicians including Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, Mitt Romney, Bill Clinton, Newt Gingrich just to name a few.

Here are some ways you can meet and obtain the signatures of your favorite politicians.

Book Signings – Whenever a politician writes a new book they almost always go on tour visiting some of the larger book stores across the country.  You can keep up with scheduled book signings by visiting various bookstore websites in your area.  This is a very easy way to get the signatures you want and the authors are usually very generous.

Presidential Libraries – I am fortunate enough to live within driving distance of the Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan libraries and museums and like many other of the modern Presidents they have regular signings.  I have obtained signatures of Nancy Reagan at the Reagan library on numerous occasions.  In the month of November this year both former President George W. Bush and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee are appearing. You can look up most Presidential libraries online and they will give you detailed information as to who and when will be appearing.

The Supreme Court – Some members of the The Supreme Court will sign though the mail.  The best signers are Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice David Souter and Justice John Paul Stevens.  If asked they will often provide you with a signed copy of a “Chambers Card” which is an embossed card with raised lettering showing their name and the Supreme Court.  It is a fantastic piece and well worth obtaining.

Governors – Most Governors are very willing signers if you just simply write to them in care of their respective state capitals.
